Root Lock (Moola Bandha)

The Root Lock is done by inhaling deeply, holding your breath longer and then exerting muscular contraction and compression of the perineum and anus muscles. Afterwards the lock is released. This technique helps to activate the seat of the kundalini. The Kundalini energy is activated and pumped upwards. It is also utilised to compress the pranic and kundalini energy not to go downward during the compression period. This energy moves upward with greater force and intensity.

Abdominal Compression Lock (Udiyana Bandha)

The locking of energy is intense in Udiyana Bandha. This is done after deep exhalation and breath retention followed by throat lock, the abdominal muscles are contracted inward as far as possible and held in the locked position. Then the throat lock is released with the unlocking of the Uddiyana Bandha to inhale. This technique activates the upward flow of prana and kundalini energy.

Body Locks and Seals

Throat Lock (Jalandhar Bandha in Yoga):This is kind of lock that stops the movement of pranic flow going upward. The chin is said to be in chin-in position. This is done while holding the breath. As the head is straightened the lock gets released. On releasing the lock there is a sudden upward flow of compressed energy and that brings expansion of consciousness and also more speed to upward energy circulation.
